NWCA Conference Writing Center

Hi all,

A while back there was quite a bit of talk about setting up prototype
writing center's at conferences. At that time I thought it would be
a good idea to have such a conference writing center at NWCA
conference in Park City, Utah, this fall. Since I'm in Utah, I
thought I take the brunt of organizing the conference center in Park
City.

This writing center would be staffed by us writing center folks and would
give feedback to conference presenters or whoever is writing. It
would serve as a means of modeling our ideas of tutoring, and
would allow us to share, in context, what our writing centers do.

I have written several times to Penny Bird who is in charge of organizing
the conference, and she has indicated that I should submit a
proposal for the conference writing center. I would like, therefore,
to invite discussion on the following items which are on the conference
application:
1) "Describe the purpose of the propsed session and how you plan to meet those
objectives;" 2) "How do you plan to involve the session
participants?"

While I have several ideas along these lines, I would like to hear
what the likely participants in such a center think I should put.

I would also like to get the names of those of you who are planning
on attending the NWCA conference and would like to take a turn in the
conference Writing Center.

Thanks,

Clint Gardner
