Re: Plagiarism, credit, and culture-reply, reply
Hello--I'm new to the listserv, and I coordinate the writing center at
the University of Arizona. I'm doing a research project on writing
centers, and I'm wondering if anyone might know Nancy Grimm's email
address (She's at Michigan tech, so far as I know). The research project
is a part of a WPA course I'm taking, so I'm interested in the
administrative issues of directing a writing center.
I'm also getting ready to take my preliminary exams(my program is
Rhetoric, Composition and the Teaching of English). There is some
dispute about my reading list because my third list is titled "Writing
Center Theory and Administration," which, some of my professors argue, is
not "different enough" from List 2, "critical pedagogy." I would like to
make the argument that writing center theory IS different and worthy of a
list of it's own. It is more than a site for implementing
critical/liberatory pedagogy--Like the WPA and WAC, it has it's own
culture complete with journals, conferences, organizations. The
requirement for our third list here that it be "cross-disciplinary."
Do any of you have suggestions/opinions about this?
Thank you,
Chere Peguesse
