Re: request for community college information
I direct a writing center staffed both by faculty and peer tutors. I
will say this: I and a few hardy souls had to fight for this one. Our
grant specificied a faculty only arrangement. But we felt that much was
to be gained by a mixed model approach. And I want to add this: our
peer tutors have been extraordinary, as writers and tutors (eventually
transferring to colleges such as Brown, Holyoke, Smith, and Brandeis).
If anyone wants to hear, I will provide lots of reasons why these
students are invaluable in a two-year college setting.
