C-FEST was organized last year prior to the 1996 CCCC in Milwaukee to
discuss issues related to conference presentation formats, rhetorical
delivery, and how technology is changing the way our conferences are
organized, and delivered (among other key topics). Tonight's meeting will
focus on how C-FEST and the professional computers and writing
association, the Alliance for Computers and Writing, can team up to
"get the word out," to find ways of getting information to the mainstream
media as well as mainstream organizations about what we do and what we've
found -- what knowledge we've built -- in the C&W community and making
sure the drive towards a vague idea of "distance education" is a humane,
participatory means of enacting participatory computer-based education.

Our meetings are informal and substantive. In the C-FEST Forum at Lingua
MOO participants may also post ideas and suggestions to the C-FEST ideas
board, and obtain instructions for subscribing to the C-FEST email
discussion list, and how to contribute to the hypertext created and
maintained by Matthew Levy for this special CCCC event. We invite anyone
and everyone to join in these discussion this spring as we approach the
conference, and as we host post-conference meetings to continue the
discussions generated while in Phoenix. Those who are unable to attend
CCCC are especially invited to attend these online sessions to add their
voices to these important discussions. As always, these meetings are
recorded and the transcripts available on the Lingua MOO Archive and
Resource page, or by email (see instructions in the C-FEST Forum at
Lingua).
