help! looking for peers

Well, I have a meeting with the dean and my dept. chair today (my
first with the new dean). And suddenly I've learned that the dean
will want to know how our writing center compares with the writing
centers of our peer institutions. This is research I've been meaning
to do, but hadn't started in earnest yet. (I have talked to several of
you informally, and will no doubt talk to more of you soon!)

If you are at a peer institution, or at another school in Alabama,
could you let me know how our writing centers compare?

My institution: The University of Alabama in Huntsville

Southern, public university
8,000 students; a few M.A. and Ph.D. programs (mostly in the sciences)
largely a commuter school

The UAH Writing Center:

staffed by mostly undergrads, a few grads, from diff. disciplines
work with writers across the university, not just remedial or fyc
about 19 writing consultants work 4 hrs./week or less, hourly wage
directed by a faculty member (w/some course release time)

My meeting is at 3p, but even if you can't respond on such short
notice, I'd be grateful to hear from you.

Thanks in advance--

Beth Young
