Computer Software -Reply
I'm curious, anyone using MS Word on a Mac in the good old stable 5.1
version? Well, I'm sure some of you are--the real question is have you
tried to print out annotations as Cliff speaks of below? I tried
recently and couldn't figure it out. I was certain I'd printed
annotations in those two formats before, but then I began to wonder if
I'd don't that in Version 6. Anyone?

Hi Pat,
Been off list for a long time, so it's good to get back and see the
conversation still is lively.
Microsoft Word has the capabilities that might work for your client.
There's two functions that might serve: Annotations and Reviewers.
The Annotations marks the text with an annotation and when you click
on the annotation, a window with the responder's remarks pops up. The
Reviewers function lets you assign different colored text to different
reviewers--you, of course would need a color printer. This function
inserts comments into the text at the point of comment. With
Annotations, you can choose to print the text with markers only and a
list of the corresponding remarks at the end, or you can choose to
print the annotations within the text. I haven't actually used these
functions, but have been doing some preliminary investigations into
how they might be used. In any case, good luck with your search.

A faculty client of ours is searching for revision software that will
be
an on-screen version of circulating a document with each responder
making
comments in distinctive ink. The software he saw demonstrated
permitted
layers of comments on the same document. He wants to use it in class
with students working on group projects, for thesis and diss.
responders,
and for his own committee work.
Has anyone had experience with such software? What is the product?
What
are pitfalls?
Thanks.
