4 C's Rooming
Emily,
My usual 4 C's roommate will not be attending the 4 C's, so I am checking
around to see if anyone out there needs someone to share a room. Are you
going? And if so, do you have a set-up already--or would you be interested
in sharing a room? (Since you e-mailed me this fall in response to my
Writing Center Directing as Teaching thread, I'm assuming you will remember
having met me at several conferences.) I'm going to go ahead and send in
to the Convention Bureau for a room (asking for either the Headquarters
hotel or the one next to it as 1st choices) since last year my roommate and
I were late in registering and ended up in two different hotels, one on the
outer outshirts of Milwaukee. Whether or not you need a roommate, I would
enjoy checking in with you again this spring if you indeed are going to
Phoenix. If not, may be I will suddenly become a better E-Mail
correspondent and we can compare notes on university life that way.
I hope your university is treating you and your department right. Ours is
laying bureaucratic prove-you-are-essential work on us as well as more
students per class, not to mention the difficult decisions to be made when,
after 5 retirements having gone unfilled, we get a position approved. In
part it's the after-shocks of going from a pugnacious chair who had the
stomach and political instincts to hold the line vs. the current chair who
is a nice man but not interested in a fight of any kind.
Hope to hear from you soon one way or the other--though I realize this is
not the calmest time to be asking for a response.
All the best,
Jane (Cogie)
