Breakfast? Etc.?

For those of you who are new, you might not know that for the last two
years we've had WCenter breakfasts, mainly for those of us who subscribe
and know one another from here. Two years ago Jeanne Simpson organized a
breakfast at Nathan's in Georgetown, and last year, I arranged for a very
crowded breakfast at LePeep in Milwaukee. But if we want to have one,
now is a good time to start talking about who will organize it and how.

Last year all I had to do was pick a place and let them know how many to
set up for. It was easy and fun. Katie Fischer kept track of how many
people wanted to show up, and I just called a few days in advance with
the numbers.

Jeanne Simpson set up the Nathan's breakfast, so we know that it can be
done from a distance. Jeanne, did the hotel concierge recommend Nathan's,
or did you know about how nice it would be? Getting there wasn't a
problem; the hotel helped us get cabs and arranged for a limousine to get
us back. We were able to walk to LePeep, and the weather cooperated
by not being below zero here in the Tundra.

Does someone want to volunteer to organize a Phoenix breakfast? I've
worked on the local committees for CCCC and know that the hospitality
committee would help make recommendations for something like this if we
asked and if we dont' have any Phoenix people to set it up.

So, do we want breakfast? I do. Last year it was on Friday morning.

For me the most fun at these is, in addition to seeing old WCEnter
friends, meeting the new people. We all introduce ourselves. Last year
Mickey brought granddaughter snapshots, and Eric Hobson brought
ultrasounds of his soon-to-be new son. Now he'll bring the infamous
photo album.

What do you think? I'll send another post with a different subject
heading to talk about *pins*.
