Re: "other" tutors

All the comments and response in regard to how some of you manage your
"other" tutors have been really helpful! I hear some frustration, and also
some success stories: I particularly like what Barbara Biasolli describes as
going on at her center. I'd like to see that happen here too, but our work
is still not fully enough developed to make that real. One problem I forsee
in training these "other" (and is it signifcant that we're calling them
"other" tutors or just a function of the "reply" button?) is that it is a
much larger group (15 or so) than the five peer tutors who staff the writing
center. And the problem here is, of course, the logistics of scheduling
meetings. I wonder if any of you have creative ideas about training or
monitoring or working with these tutors on a more independent, individual
basis (that still somehow doe not consume volumes of time on my part).

I'd also like to make a pitch for additional release time for work with these
tutors, but only have a case with a more significant Academic Tutoring
program.
