Re: Motivating Correctness
As I was reading this thread on motivating correctness I though of David
Bartholomae and Antholy Petrosky's (sp) book, "Facts, Acts and Counterfacts."
Motivating correctness with pride in one's work is one of the key theories
in the removal of grammar error in his book--in conjunction with Mina
Shaughnessy's theory about patterns of error.
Although I profess pride in my work I didn't even know where to put the
apostrophe up there but I don't have time to check because my pumpkin pie is
burning--literally. I do think that the writing center helps in the case of
motivating correctness.
