Tutor Training Packet - How

Tutor Training Packet - How to get it.
Greetings to List Folk,

I am posting this message to let everyone know about the Peer Tutor Training
packet.

Since we received in excess of 300 requests for the packet, we were unable to
meet requests for individual mailing. The packet is available on the
University of Houston-Downtown home page. The URL is www.dt.uh.edu.

The packet is a downloadable file in "ZIP" format. You must have an
expansion/extractor program such as WINZIP or pkunzip. The file will expand
into a Microsoft Word 6.0 format document.

Please follow the instructions below carefully. If you have problems
downloading or opening the file please check with your own systems
administrator or computer services department. Due to the wide variety of
software available, I am unable to answer questions about your specific
hardware or software.

1. OPEN Netscape.

2. Go to the University of Houston-Downton homepage. (The URL is
www.dt.uh.edu.

3. Click on Degree Programs.

4. Click on Peer Tutor Training.

5. Click on the highlighted instructions to download the file. At this point
your program will ask you where you want to save the file; choose a directory
now and follow the prompts on your screen. NOTE - The file has been zipped
with the title of "training.exe." If you need help in downloading the file,
please check with the systems administrator or computer help center on your
campus.

6. Exit Netscape and go to the directory to which you saved the file.

7. Double click on the file named "training.exe" Depending upon your
software, the file will automatically self-extract or you may be asked to
follow a series of prompts to unzip the file. Please follow the instructions
on your particular system. This will create a file titled Peer2.doc
(capitalization and the ".doc" extension may vary from system to system).

8. Open the file with Microsoft Word 6.0 or 7.0. If you do not have Word 6 or
Word 7 on your PC, copy the file to a floppy disk and take it to a machine that
does have MS Word 6/7.

If you use the training packet we would appreciate hearing from you.
Please send any feedback to Margaret Clark at clark@dt.uh.edu.

PLEASE DO NOT POST REPLIES OR QUESTIONS TO THIS LIST!
