I'd be a bit cautious about lumping all academic support "centers" together 
under the banner "skills."  Often, such centers are primarily umbrella 
entities--clearing houses for a variety of support services, including writing 
centers, math centers, computer labs, etc.

At my institution, for example, the Writing Center is part of the Academic 
Resource Center.  We share a receptionist with other support services, but 
otherwise maintain a distinct identity.
