Info on Conflict Resolution?

The several posts that have mentioned conflict resolution intrigued me.  Who
knows more about it?  Who has used it in the writing center to some extent?
I'm always skeptical about such systems--we have regular National Coalition
Building sessions on campus, and most of my colleagues think they are a
waste of time.  But the little that was said on the list about conflict
resolution made it sound pretty sensible.  My tutors need a fresh approach
to the resistant or angry student--or at least an affirmation of the
strategies we already use.  Thanks for any help.
