I would have to agree that collaboration does not encessarily lead to a
single voice. While extreme ideas and voices CAN be toned down somewhat,
there is certainly no reason they MUST be. It seems to me that the key
is to make sure everyone understands that coming to terms with
understanding and making ourselves understood is not the same as making
sure everyone is in lock-step agreement. We just have to agree to
disagree about some things, as long as we understand what we are
disagreeing about.

This thread reminds me of debates over social constructionism conducted
with my mentor Fred Kemp over glasses of the beverage du jour at the
Copper Caboose and other watering holes. Gosh, I'm starting to sound
like some kind of geezer. "Why I remember back in the old days when..."
