Neal -- for context. ISU's Writing Lab is open 69 hours per week --
61 on campus, 6 hours in a branch campus, and 2 hours in a residence
hall. After the first two or three weeks into a semester, we are
booked pretty solidly for all those hours, but we do experience
no-shows, and don't always have waiters in the wings to fill them.
So to answer your specific question, I'd say to cover all semester
(including the slow times) we're actively tutoring at least 62 hours per week.
To put in a different way, we've been seeing about 1100 students for
about 2400 visits per year for the past 5 years. The school has
11,000 students scattered among lots of different programs, including
grad. schools. 60% of our clients are freshmen and sophomores, 30%
are juniors or seniors, 10% are grad students.
