Barbara,

as a professor and wc person (and former student), I think you're right
on target to get the permissions--including from the professor.  While I
know students would like to see the grades given to such papers, I
wonder about whether they'll "use" them in any way that's problematic. 
But then again, I'm sure many students would be pleased to see an
example of Prof. X's A-ratings.  Nice idea.
