Felicia,

The position you described is essentially what I do.  I am hired as an
assistant professor, with 1/4 time designated for coordinating the wc
(meaning I teach 3/3 instead of the regular 4/4, and that my WC
responsibilities are supervisory & administrative--tutoring is not in my job
description, although I do tutoring regularly when I'm needed and
available).  My chair said she advocated a 2/2 load before the position
details were firmed up, but since that's what chairs get, her request was
turned down.  My WAC work is as a university committee chair, and the
freshman composition work is as a departmental committee chair.  As a
starting asst. prof., I am paid the standard wage my school pays all
others in that position (I will hedge on the amount in deference to my
upbringing.)
