Maybe it's not so much a group of non-mathematicians as a group of people 
who know what it's like to struggle with things, perhaps even to know 
what it's like to be called lazy or careless when they are trying, and 
who know how valuable it is to get help from someone who knows what 
they're doing and who respects them as learners and intelligent human 
beings  -- gee, maybe we're a group of writing center people :)
