Plagiarism Issue
I would appreciate any help this group could provide. We are having
a problem with students turning in research papers that are not theirs.
It is becoming all too common. The only proof we have is that in all
instances, the writing style of the research paper varies greatly
from the writing style of other work submitted (It's too good!).
The students I questioned denied any wrongdoing.
This course is required for all our undergraduate majors. The
students have a great network and frequently attempt to recycle papers.
So we require that students turn in highlighted copies of all sources used
in the paper. We also require that they write on a current topic in
their field of study and use current sources.
Do any of you have any other ideas that would deter or prevent students
from submitting someone else's work. Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated.
You may respond either through the list or through my email.
