RE: Form examples

Neal,
What kinds of goals might the writing fellows have? Might you want to list
some. Might goals might be: to listen better, to quit fidgeting, to be
sure to respond to the writer's concerns.... are these the kinds of goals
you intend? I like the idea of tutors assessing themselves. Thanks for the
idea.

Perhaps I like the form because it strongly resembles the one we use here.
One difference is that we ask the writer to identify the course and to
restate the assignment --- just a way of reminding the writer what has
brought them to the Writing Center. Every once in a while, I print out for
the tutors a comparison of what writers said they wanted to work on and
what the tutors reported working on. We also list the strategies tutors
use: reading aloud, asking questions, clarifying audience, descriptive
outlines, etc. A printout of strategies used lets tutors know if they have
fallen in a rut.

Hi, folks. With all of this talk about forms and such, I thought I'd
contribute two forms I've been working on. The first is for students to
fill out the first time they use the WC; the second is for tutors and
students to use after a session as a record of what occurred. Feel free
to comment, suggest improvements, laugh out loud. Thanks.
