An idea for NWCA
Someone here (Joan?) posted a message within the last two weeks, asking
for ideas about NWCA. (I meant to save that message!)
But it wasn't until I saw Sally's message today, asking for feedback
forms, that it occurred to me: wouldn't it be great if NWCA would keep
collections of these things?
I've seen requests for consultant training manuals, consultant training
syllabi, record of session forms, feedback surveys, publicity
materials, etc. Whenever I see someone else's request, I realize that I
could use copies of that stuff, too. But it's sometimes tough to keep
track of who asked for what (when I want to answer a request) and I feel
bad about appending "send copies to me, too!" to someone else's
request.
If we all would make an effort to send even a single copy of these items
to NWCA, when we create them, and we were all willing to pay the costs
of photocopies and postage, these items would be more easily available
to all of us. The NWCA could keep packets of consultant training
manuals, or whatever, available on request. So all Sally would
have to do is ask NWCA for all the feedback forms they have on file.
Or, if someone at NWCA has a scanner, these items could be scanned and
stored on the TTU computer. Or we could submit them on disk--no
scanning! Then files of syllabi, etc.--even collections of helpful
posts, presorted by topic (how to write end-of-year reports, should we
report to faculty, open spaces vs. cubbyholes, etc.) would be only a
listserv command away.
Those of us who are also on the WMST-L list will recognize this
idea--it's been amazingly helpful to me to see the women's studies
materials available through the UMD listserv. And quick--two minutes
and everything arrives in your email box.
I realize this would initially be a time-consuming project, but it seems
to me the payoff would be worth it.
So what do you think? Would it be worth it to anyone else? Could NWCA take
this on?
Beth
P.S. And Sally, I don't have a feedback form myself. I was planning to
create one this year. When I get to it, I'll be happy to send you a copy!
