Nametags didn't work for us, either -- nor did taking candid photos 
and posting them up on a bulletin board outside the writing lab 
(someone before my time had thought that one up). We have a pot-luck 
lunch at the end of each semester, and award our College Reading and 
Learning Assoc. certificates then -- but I love Mary Dossin's idea 
about making the awards part of a larger academic event.  One thing 
my tutors do seem to appreciate is mention of some 
compliment to them, or items about increased usage or kudos from 
other departments on campus, et., that I try always to put  into memos announcing 
our staff meetings and stuff .
