I applied several years ago for certification for our tutor training 
program through the College Reading and Learning Association.  The 
certification enables me to award certificates at three levels:  regular, 
advanced, and master.  There is some specification about exactly what 
needed to be done in training and achievement for the various levels, but 
there's enough room to do my own requirements for each level.

These are awarded at our spring honors convocation each year along with all 
the other academic awards.  We're all there in our academic regalia, etc., 
so it's a pretty big deal.  The tutors love them.  It gives them something 
to put in the awards category of their resumes.
