Re: remedies for weariness
Lisa,
I couldn't do this job if I had to tutor 4 hours straight every day. The
tutors do the tutoring. I tutor if one of them gets sick or misses an
appointment. I also tutor special students whom faculty have asked me
specifically to see. After a session or two, those students can also
work with the tutors.
My office is in one corner of our center, so I'm very
accessible to tutors or students. That means I answer lots of passing
questions about papers, computers, or whatever. But I have enough to do
with the administration and teaching (I teach one-third time in the
English department) without set on-going tutoring appointments.
I hope you can readjust your work load. Do you have funds to hire one
more tutor to take your tutoring load? You may have to negotiate for the
money.
