I know no magic for actually getting students to the center. I do know that
those who go there are likely to come back--and sometimes bring friends.
Getting students physically to the center can be a bigger hurdle than
winning them over to the idea. You might try an open house or two (give
prizes? serve refreshments?) or have the center included on any library
tours. Maybe you could get a few sympathetic professors to actually walk
some of the first-time clients to the center. Getting them there matters.
Incidentally, our center has reached early adolescence. We didn't have a
lot of business our first year, but visits have steadily increased every
year. Hang in there.
