re: Promotions
James, baby WCs need time to grow. Our first semester struck me as
agonizingly slow. We had lots of times when the room was full of
consultants just hanging around waiting for someone to come in, and I
was afraid some admin-type would walk in and decide we just weren't
cutting it. I can remember going over the first semester's set of
records weeding out blanks and duplicates and thinking "Please, please,
just let it be at least 500." Last semester, we were just under 2,000,
and I suspect we may have more this semester in large part as the result
of Elisabeth P-M's mailing blitzes. I think you'll find that all those
promotional things help, but news of the writing center also spreads
by word of mouth from satisifed students. In the meantime, hang in there.
