_Kairos_ Cover Web on MUDs and MOOs in the Teaching of Writing

Inquiries due to CoverWeb Coordinator Michael Day <mday@silver.sdsmt.edu> by
February 15, 1996. Final peer-reivewed webs due by May 1, 1996.

_Kairos: A Journal For Teachers of Writing in Webbed Environments_
is continuing its regular series of hypertextually-linked reviews
and commentary which began with the 1/96 issue's "Cover Web" dealing
with Online Writing Labs. Our 6/96 issue will examine the uses of MUDs
and MOOs in writing pedagogy, to include (but not limited to):

*Editorial commentary from teachers who have used MUDs and/or MOOs in the
teaching of writing;
*Reviews of various MUDs and MOOs available to teachers of writing (we
invite and encourage reviewers of all levels of experience);
*Discussions of the developing theory which is used in support of MUD- and
MOO-based pedagogy

These h-texts will be peer-reviewed by members of the _Kairos_
editorial board. Web authors will be working with CoverWeb Coordinator
Michael Day and _Kairos_ Managing Editor Michael Salvo in production of
the webs, and will receive additional support as needed from _Kairos_
Production Manager Jason Teague.

The various reviews will be published both individually and as part of a
larger web instantiated by the _Kairos_ editorial staff under the direction
of Links Editor Greg Siering and Chief Copy Editor Amy Hanson.

Anyone interested in contributing to this Web, please contact Michael Day
<mday@silver.sdsmt.edu> before Frebuary 15. Final texts, coded in HTML,
are due by May 1. If you are not familiar with HTML, members of the _Kairos_
staff will be more than happy to help you along with learning the
process!

If you are affiliated with a MUD or MOO and would like to ensure its
inclusion in the review(s) please send the appropriate information to
the CoverWeb Coordinator at the above eddress.

Related note:
We are also seeking various webbed reviews of current
(copyright 1994 or later) print literature in the field, such as
Michael Joyce's "Of Two Minds" and Clifford Stoll's "Silicon Snake Oil."
