RE: Personal and academic writing
Mike--
What's your MBTI?
I did a small study some time ago (the results of which are to be published
in a collection by Tom Thompson which should be out soon) which shows that our
current model of writing development (personal to academic) seems to work well
for Feeling types (around 50% of the population). Thinking types seem to
develop as writers in the other direction. I prefer to use Kinneavy's terms of
"people-centered" and "thing-centered" discoures, but the idea is pretty much
the same.
I do agree with you, however. We *do* need to look at the developmental model
most of us use in FY Comp.
