                  Special Edition of The Writing Instructor

Teaching Writing and Nontraditional Students: Focus on Undergraduate Adult
Learners

The editors welcome proposals for papers to be published in a special
edition of The Writing Instructor on teaching writing to nontraditional
students with a focus on undergraduate adult learners.  Possible topics
include
*       adult learners and basic writing
*       writing and literature
*       uses of technology
*       writing process
*       textbooks
*       classroom management
*       attitudes toward writing
*       literacy
*       writing/cognitive development
*       theories of adult education/writing
*       special challenges/rewards
*       tutoring/writing centers

The editors eventually want papers of 12 to 20 double-spaced pages.  We are
open to  a variety of formats and voices.  Proposals must include  a
working title and an abstract of the paper of approximately 500 words.
Please include name, address, phone and internet address (if available).
Use MLA style.  Deadline for proposals is January 31, 1996.
