Hurrah, Marcy! I'm sure there are many of us who do this job because
we love it, not because of the money or prestige. If I wanted those
things, I would have gone for the interview in Austin for the
"information specialist" job at IBM. But I like teaching and
learning, and watching students learn and experiencing them teach
me. That's tons better than producing a new user manual for the IBM
RISC 6000 that would probably just end up on someone's shelf
gathering dust. And while I do like to write and do tech writing (I
teach it too), its more fun and rewarding teaching other people to
do it.

Deany's two cents (for what it's worth).
