Re: Collaborative projects
This past semester our Center had a number of students come with
collaborative papers.
I'm thinking about talking with the professors who have assigned (or who
are interested in assigning) such projects to see if our Center can be of
any help to the writers. But before I do, I'd like to ask if anyone out
there has developed specific Writing Center protocols for conferences
involving group papers. Or if your staff members have had experience
conducting group conferences.
So far, the departments concerned have been education and bio-med. Twice
we've had conferences with all the writers from the group; other times a
single representative from the group has come with a working draft. At
this point, I am not at all sure how these projects were to be evaluated.
(That is, the writers were not sure.) But I've done (and will continue to
do) informal follow-ups with the writers from bio-med.
Any suggestions or caveats on how to handle multi-authored papers would be
welcome!
