A cause for celebration -Reply

Uh, thanks, Neal. :| And thanks to all the rest of you who followed
Neal's lead in making my birthday so, er, memorable. Lady and
Stephen surely do sing pretty, don't they? And the cake Cynthia
made--wow (it even had cat hairs on it). I do agree with Jo, though,
that, when it comes to cake, the real bidness beats the cyberoptic;
but when it comes to singing, Lady and Steve, let's keep it virtual,
shall we?

I don't know what all the words mean that Neal wrote below,
especially "erudition" (though I guess I *do* know about "hair
product"), but, given that Neal and I were NWCA roommates and bowling
butties, I think he was refering to my fondness for the homebrew he
brought to St. Louis and to my ability to roll gutter balls.

Thanks again for all the attention. I'm honored to have had a role
in the stuffing of your mail boxes. --Jon, Oregon State University,

Friends,

It has come to the attention of some members of this list that today
is the day that a certain WCenter member chooses to acknowledge
both his constructivist and his expressivist selves, while at the
same time not denying that these selves are subject to postmodern
situatedness and flux. Nevertheless, while some of you know Jon
Olson for his erudition and sensitivity towards students and others
appreciate his Dockers and hair products, we welcome all to join
hands and, after a round of Kumbaya, wish Jon a healthy and happy
birthday.
