OK, I'll take the easy  one: E[a]rnest, but I suspect it's Earl--no really, Jon has
no given middle name and his real first name is Jonny, so when Jon arrived on
the academic scene, he altered his name because all revered academicians
have tripartite names.  (I'm not calling you names Jon,-- HB!).
