Adal and other revisers:
I've been telling my students and faculty colleagues that "Prose is never
finished, it is only abandoned," attributing it to "one of the French
symbolists." While a useful aphorism, I've often felt uncomfortable not
knowing the source or the accuracy of the quotation. Stop me, before I
misquote again! Thanks!
