You're right about MBTI being copyrighted and that it must be used by qualified
professionals.  However, you don't need to be a professional psychologist to
be qualified.  There are two basic ways to qualify.  The first is to take a
three day workshop in the instrument.  These workshops are held regularly 
throughout the country.  Consulting Psychologists Press (which holds the 
copyright) can get you a schedule.  If anyone's interested, I know I have an
800 number for CPP in my office.  The other way is to take a graduate course
in pyschological tests.  CPP seems pretty lenient on this as they usually 
accept a course in taught in graduate education programs as well as
pyschology programs.

I would suggest to anyone interested in MBTI that they view one of the 
workshops or the course as a professional development opportunity.
