RE: MBTI and the like
James--
You're right about MBTI being copyrighted and that it must be used by qualified
professionals. However, you don't need to be a professional psychologist to
be qualified. There are two basic ways to qualify. The first is to take a
three day workshop in the instrument. These workshops are held regularly
throughout the country. Consulting Psychologists Press (which holds the
copyright) can get you a schedule. If anyone's interested, I know I have an
800 number for CPP in my office. The other way is to take a graduate course
in pyschological tests. CPP seems pretty lenient on this as they usually
accept a course in taught in graduate education programs as well as
pyschology programs.
I would suggest to anyone interested in MBTI that they view one of the
workshops or the course as a professional development opportunity.
