The end of writing
If anyone is interested in attending or presenting at Bristol Community
College's 11th annual Conference on the Teaching of Writing let me know. The
conference, scheduled for October 27, has as its theme "The End of Writing."
Among the questions we seek to raise are the following: What is the place
of writing at a time when electronic and multimedia innovations have
challenged conventional notions of written text? Are we looking at the
end of the traditional writing class as we know it?
Our keynote speaker is Donaldo Macedo, coauthor with Paolo Freire of
"Literacy: Reading the Word and the World" and author of a recent work
called "Literacies of Power: What Americans are not Allowed to Know."
If you wish to present, you need to send a 50 word abstract, together with
your name, affliliation, address, and phone number to
JP_Nadeau-tasc@nova.novanet.org or me, Tinberg @aol.com. Deadline for
abstracts is July 25.
Bristol Community College is located at 777 Elsbree Street, Fall River, MA
02720.
