Beth,
Sound like you and I have similar feelings about composing. I'm very oral. I
like fleshing ideas out orally in groups. Brainstorming has always seemed
like a collaborative exercise to me. Thats why I emphasize collaborative
group exercises in my composition classes, and oral brainstorming in my wc
consultations.
But revising is hard for me, too. I think my perfectionist issues get in the
way. I know intellectually that no draft is perfect. Yet examining my work
for that imperfection, even in order to improve the writing, makes my
perfectionist within cringe. Needing to revise implies that I'm not perfect,
and not being perfect is hard for this overachieving hero to face.
