Re: Revision: Who Else Hates It?

Linda--

Revising, I love. It's composing I hate. At this very moment, I sit here
staring down at the keyboard, chewing on my nails, trying to come up with what
to say next. Once the words are down, then the fun begins for me--moving,
adding, deleting. That's the easy part.

So how do our preferences affect the way we tutor and structure our Centers.
Hmmm...For me, talk is the thing. I'm much better at talking out ideas than I
am at writing them out, and I think I'm pretty good at helping others to talk
out their ideas. That's something I emphasize with my tutors, and this
approach undoubtedly stems from my own preferences. I also encourage tutors to
take dictation as students talk through ideas, or better yet, to tape record
what they say and give the student the tape when the session is over.

So, I guess that's how I was drawn to this kind of work--because I hate to
write alone and I desperately needed people to talk to.

Now, if I could only find someone who would be willing to type for a few hours
while I dictated these papers that I'm working on. Then, I could just sit down
and play with the words all day . . .
