Re: Door Slamming

In putting together an advising manual for English majors (undergrad and
grad), make sure you put industry in it prominantly. Too often we
highlight educational avenues and forget to mention the benefit many
employers find in recruiting highly verbal people to their
workforces--particularly in sales and representatives positions where
frontline contact with diverse clients is on-going and essential to the
business' success. There is a premium in the larger job market for folk
with liberal arts training. English majors CAN go toe-to-toe with
business and marketing majors for solid entry-level jobs IF they get
their act together and learn how to market THEMSELVES.
