Ed's Question
The software we use here has a "from" line above the path information
(very easy to miss). But the "originator" in the path is always the
listserver. The actual originator of the message is not indicated
in the transmission path, long form OR short form.
The "from" line generally lists only the name (if the sender has
programmed in a "handle" that is not the same as his email address) or
the first part of the email address. Thus, Ed's posts have ED LOTTO
on the "from" line without an email address, and other posts have
only an incomplete email address on the "from" line. Sometimes I
know who's originating the message when I read this line (as in Ed's
case), but I don't have an address to reply to privately (in any case).
Frustrating, yes. But my options are limited with this software. I've
checked.
Yours for better, kinder communication,
Bobbie
