Help on database

In our ongoing attempt to refine our operation AND supply administration with 
more data we need to start crunching some of the numbers we/ve been so avidly 
collecting in our files. Therefore I am now shopping around for a 
spreadsheet/database for our computers. We are completely Mac-based (which we 
love for teaching writing), but we know that limits our choices of software 
somewhat. Someone recommended Filemaker Pro. Any seconds to that motion? Any 
other ideas? Here's  a sample of what we'd like to be able to access with the 
push of a button:

	Name*  sex* year in school*  major*   ESL*  LD*   athlete*

	Information about individual conferences including:

	day/date*  time*  duration*  course/issue*  professor*
	drop-in/referral*

I've found Filemaker Pro on sale before Christmas for $89.00, certainly not a 
budget breaker like some of the more powerful programs like Excel. Will it do 
the trick? Help!!!!
