you won't believe this

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
	I'll be the first to admit that at times (as in always), I play
fast and loose with the truth, and I am often given to fits of
embellishment.  Today, however, I have decided to deviate from my usual
Wcenter persona and tell the truth for a change.  And you won't believe
it, because often the truth is more unlikely and clearly more humorous
than the bovine waste I normally disseminate on this list.
	In a kairotic moment of temporary insanity and at great risk to
the future of the institution, Mount Saint Mary's College has decided to
grant me tenure.  (I can already hear the peels of laughter and the gasps
of disbelief).  I believe the powers-that-be were particularly impressed
with my stellar publication record, and no doubt my "Ask Carl" column in
the Writing Lab Newsletter made the difference.
	The good news is that now I can say what I REALLY think.
