Re: Replies to posts (SMTP Id#: 30892)
My first instinct was not to reply to the request for opinion on
the reply-to-sender option. I agree with Jeanne: the issue
seems to have been settled, in several forms, over the past year.
WCENTER is a community that clearly wants the personal messages
and repartee distributed over the entire list.
However, although there is "consensus" on this issue, there
isn't unanimity, and I don't want my silence or that of others to
suggest that there is. I think of the "laissez-faire quality" of
WCENTER to be a weakness, mostly because I'm so pressured for
time, I'm on other lists, and daily e-mail can sometimes be
overwhelming.
But hey, I know I'm in the minority here, and it's MY choice
to stay with the group or withdraw. It would be kind of dumb, I
think, to try to enter an existing social group in the "real"
world, then try to change its terms of friendship to suit what
made me most comfortable. You either stick with the group or
find a more compatible one.
I get valuable things from my friendship with WCENTER. And I
exercise the "delete" button freely. And I send lots of personal
messages to individuals rather than the group.
