Thanks, Lynne.  Your idea--creating correct sample sentences for the 
student to refer to later--was a good one.  Common sense.  (I sort of 
lose that ability when I'm feeling punched from three different 
directions.)  We do offer to make another appointment for ESLs, but too 
often they don't have time for that.

Our tutors feel most overwhelmed with students who have faulty sentence 
structure.  ESLs can't often "hear" this in the way native speakers can.  
How do you help your tutors with this?
