My perception and that of some faculty on campus was that my rank didn't
make any difference as long as the students were being well served by the
writing lab.  Where I ran into trouble was when I attempted a foray into
possibly doing some WAC stuff out of the lab so I would be dealing directly
with faculty.  I was told emphatically by the head of the english dept.
that faculty would not listen to me because i was staff and not faculty.
