Jennifer--

I have three theories about why WCENTER participants have more fun:

1.  After tutoring and only discussing writing all day, WCENTER is
our opportunity to actually WRITE something.  Our fun is simply the
expression of joyous release into our own prose.

2.  People who don't deal with the processes of struggling writers
in a hands-on way think that writing pedagogy is all theory and 
structure.  Those of us who have to try to inspire others realize
that good writing is playful.  That is, writing is the interplay of
forms and thoughts, the creative collision of discourses.  We are
daredevils playing in traffic on the Information Highway.

3.  Participants on other lists are pompous poops.
