Re: Identity crisis

I'm the Writing Coordinator at Daemen College in Buffalo. My position
is in the Academic Resource Center, though I used to be in the English
Department. I moved out when the English Department decided to be a
Literature Department, so now I report to the Academic Dean.

The Academic Resource Center houses the Learning Center, where the
writing tutorials occur, the computing center, and the academic
placement center. We are funded separately from other departments
and in fact do quite well, especially when it comes to computer
classrooms.

My status changed from faculty to administrative staff when I moved
from the English Department to the ARC, but I've not noticed any
loss of prestige or persumed status. In fact, I sort of like it here
better, especially since I felt so alienated in the English Department.
Now I sense that I have more support than previously.
