My position is a tenure-track faculty position in the English Department,
though as Director of Writing Across the Curriculum I report directly to
the Academic Vice President.  Faculty members here typically teach four
courses per semester; I teach two and get the rest as released time.  I
have mixed feelings about this arrangement; I occasionally wish I were
NOT English Dept. faculty, because I think my dept. has mixed feelings about
"control" of the Writing Program having been moved from the English Department
to a cross-disciplinary University Writing Board.  On the other hand, I
think most people in my dept. respect my knowledge of the field and are
supportive of the innovations I've made in the program.  Hope this is
useful.
