Strategic Planning Council
Charge:
The Strategic Planning Council advises the President of Texas Tech University in the development and supervision of the University’s strategic planning efforts.
The Council will consider matters pertaining to strategic planning, including an ongoing review of and suggested revisions to the University’s strategic plan, and the University’s assessment procedures.
The Council shall provide an annual report to the President summarizing the University’s strategic planning efforts. The report will be submitted June 1.
The President has final authority to direct, control, or supervise the activities relating to the University’s strategic planning efforts.
Membership:
The Strategic Planning Council shall be comprised of thirteen (13) voting members as follows:
- Four members from the faculty, nominated by the Faculty Senate;
- Three members from the staff , nominated by the Staff Senate;
- Three members from the administration.
- One member from the undergraduate student body, nominated by the Student Senate;
- One member from the graduate student body, nominated by the Graduate Student Senate;
- One member from outside the University community.
Council membership will also include four non-voting ex-officio members as follows:
- The Director of Strategic Planning
- Director of Institutional Research and Information Management (IRIM)
- Chief of Staff to the President
- Provost
Appointment:
The President, in consultation with the senates, will make all appointments, not limited to those nominated. Terms are two years, except students will serve one-year terms. Terms end on August 31. Members may be reappointed.
Operating Procedures:
Meeting of the Strategic Planning Council will be held once each month except in summer. Minutes will be distributed to members of the Council and the President.
Chairperson:
The Chairperson will be appointed by the President from the 13 members of the Council and will serve an indefinite term.
