Check Accessibility in Documents

If you have documents in your courses, you will need to make sure they are accessible. Follow the below steps to check for accessibility.

Microsoft Word Documents

You can check any document in Microsoft Word to ensure you have all the necessary components to an accessible word document. 

Mac and PC's have different instructions on how to check for accessibility.

Mac Users:

  1. Open Document.
  2. Select the "Review" tab, then "Check Accessibility".

For PC Users:

  1. Select "File."
  2. Select "Info."
  3. Select "Check for Issues."

Microsoft PowerPoint Presentations

Microsoft PowerPoints can also be checked to make sure they are accessible. Similar to Word, Macs and PCs have different instructions.

For Mac Users:

  1. Open Document.
  2. Select the "Review" tab, then "Check Accessibility."

  2. Select "Info."
  3. Select "Check for Issues."

Check Any PDF with Adobe

Many instructors use PDFs in their online courses. Follow these simple steps to make sure your PDFs are accessible and can be read with a screen reader.

  1. Open document in Adobe Acrobat Pro (available to TTU employees and students at eRaider.)
  2. Select the "Tools" Option.
  3. Select "Accessibility."
  4. Run "Full Check."
